STRUCTURE FIRE @ 14900BLK OLD CHANDLER HWY (CR 1134), SMITH COUNTY – 4/29/2023
At approximately 12:30 AM Saturday, April 29th, Smith County ESD2's Dixie Fire, Noonday Fire, Flint-Gresham Fire, Battalion 1, and Captain 1 responded to a residential structure fire on Old Chandler Highway. The first arriving fire units reported that the wood frame structure was approximately 50% engulfed in flames, and neighbors advised that it was unoccupied. The fire had already worked throughout the home, even collapsing the roof. After getting a knock-back of the fire from the exterior, firefighters could move to the house's interior to extinguish the fire. A control time was called at 1:19 AM. The Smith County Sheriff's Office and UT EMS also responded. The Smith County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.
STRUCTURE FIRE @ 515 E ERWIN ST, TYLER – 4/28/2023
At 2:10 PM, on April 28th, Tyler Fire Department’s Engine 1, Engine 7, Engine 6, Ladder 1, Battalion 1, and Fire Marshal 7 responded to a commercial structure fire with smoke coming from the 4th floor. In just three minutes, firefighters were on scene and made entry into the building. Fire was found on the 4th floor, and a primary search was initiated. It was known that there was at least one squatter in the building, with others attempting to renter. Tyler Police was requested to the scene. Approximately five occupants were removed from the building. A control time was called at 2:30 PM. Firefighters checked each floor to ensure there was no fire extension and that all occupants were out. No injuries were reported.
STRUCTURE FIRE @ 8100BLK KEVIN DR, TYLER – 4/26/23
At 12:33 PM, on April 26, Tyler Fire Department’s Engine 5, Ladder 2, Engine 7, Engine 10, Battalion Chief 2, and Fire Marshal 7 responded to a residential structure fire possibly caused by a vehicle fire in the garage. Just minutes later, Battalion Chief 2 advised heavy smoke was visible from S Broadway Ave. A second alarm was dispatched, adding Engine 9 and Engine 4. Engine 2 cleared from another call and responded to the fire as well. Upon Battalion Chief 2’s arrival, he advised the house was fully engulfed in flames with power lines down in front of the residence. No occupants were reported to be in the home at the time of the fire. Engine 5 was soon disregarded, and a control time was called at 12:55 PM. No injuries were reported. All units were clear from the scene shortly after 2:00 PM.
STRUCTURE FIRE @ 300BLK POWELL DR – 4/26/23
At 3:04 PM, on April 26, Tyler Fire Department’s Engine 2, Ladder 2, Engine 4, Engine 7, Battalion Chief 2, and Fire Marshal 7 responded to a residential structure fire with smoke reportedly coming from the roof. No flames were visible. Just two minutes later, Engine 2 arrived on scene and advised smoking was visible and there was active fire. A second alarm was dispatched, adding Engine 8 and Engine 10. Ladder 2 made entry through the front door, while Engine 2 made entry through the garage. A primary search was completed, and no occupants were found. A control time was called at 3:23 PM. UT EMS was on standby for the fire. No injuries were reported.
STRUCTURE FIRE @ 1700 BLK SYBIL LN, TYLER – 4/15/2023
Earlier this morning, the Tyler Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Sybil Lane. Engine 8, Engine 10, Engine 7, Ladder 2, Battalion 2 and Fire Marshal 7 were initially dispatched and responded to the scene. Engine 8 arrived at the residence minutes later and reported fire coming from the roof, and that it had partially collapsed. There was only a single occupant in the home, and they were able to get out on their own. The fire in the attic presented a challenge for the firefighters as it moved from one side of the house to the other, eventually breaking free from a hole in the collapsed roof. Engine 2 and Engine 9 were dispatched later in succession for more manpower on the fireground. After a knockback of the fire, a control time was called at 12:58AM. All units were clear by 3:08AM. STRUCTURE FIRE @ 4526 S BROADWAY AVE, TYLER (KEN’S PIZZA) – 4/4/23
At 2:15 AM on Tuesday, April 4th, Tyler Fire’s Engine 2 and Ladder 2 were dispatched for a commercial fire alarm at 4526 S Broadway Ave (Ken’s Pizza) in Tyler. Upon Engine 2’s arrival, they advised smoke was visible on the structure's interior, and a full structure fire alarm was dispatched. Battalion 2, Engine 7, Engine 8, and Fire Marshal 7 were dispatched. Units on scene advised all other units that a large amount of smoke was present inside, but they believed a sprinkler put out any fire that may have been present. Firefighters searched the interior and exterior of the building for other signs of fire and/or extensions. No fire was found, and Fire units were gradually released from the scene. No injuries have been reported. The extent of damages, if any, is unknown at this time. All units cleared the scene at 3:25 AM.
STRUCTURE FIRE @ 800BLK W BOW ST, TYLER – 3/24/23
Tyler Fire was dispatched to this location after a report came in that a garage was on fire. First units arrived on scene minutes later and found the garage to be fully engulfed with flames. A control time was called at 6:38PM. No injuries have been reported at this time. Tyler PD has W Bow St blocked off at this time.
STRUCTURE FIRE @ 22400BLK LAKEWAY HARBOR DR, FLINT – 2/27/2023
At approximately 10 PM, Smith County ESD2's Battalion 1, Captain 1, Noonday, Flint-Gresham, and Bullard Fire Departments were dispatched for a reported residence on fire. Upon arrival, Noonday Fire Engine 1 reported that the mobile home was fully involved in flames. Fortunately, all occupants were accounted for and outside the residence. Smith Co. Sheriff Deputies were on hand to help, and UT EMS staged nearby for any potential injuries. Due to the lack of fire hydrants in the immediate vicinity, firefighters relied on Engines and Tanker trucks to supply water to the scene. Despite this obstacle, the firefighters worked quickly and efficiently, resulting in a control time to be called at 10:35PM. The Smith County Fire Marshal's Office was present at the scene to investigate the incident, and the Coffee City Fire Department also responded to help. STRUCTURE FIRE @ 13900 CR 194 (REX RD) – 12/23/2022
At 3:13PM on Friday, Noonday Fire, Flint-Gresham Fire, Dixie Fire, and UT EMS were dispatched to a home with a reported attic fire on County Road 194. Noonday Engine 1 arrived first on scene, reporting heavy fire and smoke from the roof. It was undetermined how far the fire had spread through the attic until crews entered the home, fighting the fire from an attic access in the garage. After a knockback of the blaze, it was found that the fire hadn't spread across the attic, meaning it was centralized on the bravo side. Firefighters also attacked from the exterior before getting a ventilation crew to go on the roof. A control time was called at 3:48PM. Firefighters rescued numerous pets from the home, safely putting them back into the hands of the homeowners. No injuries were reported at the scene. STRUCTURE FIRE @ 16400 BLK LAKEVIEW CIRCLE, WHITEHOUSE – 12/21/22
At 2:01 PM Wednesday, a volunteer with the Noonday Fire Department advised Smith County Dispatch that a mobile home at this location had a fire on the front porch spreading to the center. Moments later, Whitehouse Fire, City of Whitehouse Fire, Flint-Gresham Fire, Chapel Hill Fire, UT EMS, and the Smith County Fire Marshal's Office were responding to the scene. At this moment, it was still being determined whether the home was occupied. Smith County ESD2 Chief 3 arrived first on scene, reporting a double-wide mobile home with heavy fire in the front, heavy smoke coming out of the backside and potential exposure, and a carport on the side of the house. Whitehouse Engine 1 and COW Fire (City of Whitehouse) Engine 102 arrived next, pulling multiple hose lines to the front and rear of the structure for a fast attack. STRUCTURE FIRE @3500 BLK OF CR 398, TYLER – 12/17/2022
Not all structure fire calls result in significant property damage; on this particular call, Smith County ESD2 Firefighters and Volunteers worked together to save a home from extensive damage. At 10:07PM on Saturday, Jackson Heights Fire, Chapel Hill Fire, Winona Fire, and Red Springs Fire were dispatched to a reported structure fire on County Road 398 near the Jackson Ave intersection. Initial reports stated a fire was in a bedroom, with all occupants evacuating. Jackson Heights Engine 1 arrived on scene, advising incoming units that there wasn't any smoke visible from the street. Upon further investigation around the structure's exterior, smoke was found coming from the backside of the house, indicating a possible attic fire. Second-arriving units were tasked with obtaining a water supply as firefighters went in the interior of the structure. STRUCTURE FIRE @12700BLK FM14 – 12/4/22
At 7:55 AM on Sunday, December 4th, 2022, Red Springs Fire, Lindale Fire, and Dixie Fire were dispatched to the 12700BLK of FM 14 for a report of smoke and flames coming from a residence. Red Springs quickly advised smoke could be seen while en route. Minutes later, Arp Command 1 arrived on scene, followed by Red Springs Fire, reporting smoke and flames were visible. Heavy fire was seen protruding from the front of the structure. Red Springs quickly began an offensive fire attack with immediate results, confining the fire to the front of the home. At 8:06 AM, Jackon Heights Fire was requested for additional manpower and resources. Within the next 10 minutes, positive control of the fire was secured, and a secondary search was completed. Large Structure Fire @9200BLK E Lakeshore DR – 11/29/22
At 8:08 PM on Tuesday, November 29th, Dixie Fire, Noonday Fire, Flint Fire, and UT EMS were dispatched to a report of a house on fire with smoke and flames visible at the 9200BLK of E Lakeshore Dr just off HWY 31 W. It was originally reported that not all occupants were out of the house. It was soon reported that all occupants were out of the house, with the exception of the owner's pets. Moments later, a nearby Smith County Fire Marshal reported seeing a large glow and black smoke from HWY 31 W and Greenbriar Rd. Seconds later, Noonday Engine 1 arrived on scene and advised there was a two-story brick residential structure with large flames visible. Mutual Aid Structure Fire in Overton, TX – 10/23/22
At 7:23 PM Sunday, Arp Fire was dispatched to assist Overton and Rusk County Fire Departments with a structure fire on Main St in downtown Overton. Upon arrival, fire units found a metal structure fully involved with heavy smoke and flames blowing large embers in the wind. Arp Fire, Jackson Heights Fire, and Smith County ESD2 Command Staff responded to the scene. Smith County ESD2, Rusk County ESD1, and Volunteers worked together for a defensive fire attack, putting together all of their resources on the exterior of the building to stop the fire from spreading. Henderson Fire responded with a ladder truck, ultimately an incredible tool for the firefighters, providing ariel ability to observe and fire attack. Several Law Enforcement agencies responded for traffic control as a portion of HWY 135 was shut down so firefighters could work safely. STRUCTURE FIRE @11390 WOOD LN, TYLER – 10/13/2022
At 4:27 PM on Thursday, Red Springs Fire, Lindale Fire, Dixie Fire, and UT EMS were dispatched for a report of a house on fire near County Road 330 and County Road 331. While crews were responding, a Battalion Chief advised dispatch to add Chapel Hill Fire and Winona Fire to the call as there was a large amount of smoke in the sky. Red Springs Engine 1 arrived within minutes, advising all incoming units of a structure fully involved with grass fires surrounding. Firefighters used the engine's deck gun to get an initial attack on the fire, blasting the roofline with mass amounts of water. As tanker trucks staged nearby prepared with water, the attack on the fire turned to hand tools and hand lines, breaking apart the burnt rubble to check for fire extensions. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The fire's cause is under investigation by the Smith County Fire Marshal's Office. No Injuries were reported.
Structure Fire @11000BLK FM 850 9/23/22
At 6:18 PM on Friday evening, Chapel Hill Fire, Jackson Heights Fire, Winona Fire, and UT EMS were dispatched to a structure fire at the 11000 block of FM 850. Jackson Heights Engine 1 arrived first on the scene advising incoming units of a double-wide mobile home about 50% involved with flames. Firefighters swiftly pulled a 2 ½ inch hose line for immediate suppression as secondary units set up a supply line for Jackson Engine 1. Firefighters utilized their master stream to knock back flames from the center of the mobile home before entering with hand lines for further suppression. Additionally, units from Red Springs Fire and Arp Fire were requested to the scene for more manpower on the fireground. As a result of the fire, the floor in the mobile home was collapsing under firefighters, so they moved to work the exterior. Structure Fire @5800BLK Palo Pinto Dr, Tyler – 9/4/22
At 7:29 PM on Sunday evening, the Tyler Fire Department was dispatched to a residence on Palo Pinto Drive where neighbors reported seeing smoke coming from the garage. Tyler Fire Engine 8 arrived on the scene minutes later and reported heavy smoke from the garage. Firefighters worked inside extinguishing the fire, checking different areas of the home for extensions of the fire. A control time for the fire was called at 7:46 PM. In an unusual turn of events, about an hour later, a resident who lived houses down from the first fire ran to firefighters to tell them that her attic was on fire. Luckily, firefighters acted swiftly and extinguished a small fire in the attic. No injuries were reported from either fire. UT EMS and Tyler Police also responded to the scene for assistance.
STRUCTURE FIRE @800BLK W BOW ST – 9/5/22
At 10:05 PM on September 5th, Tyler Fire Department’s Engine 1, Ladder 1, Battalion 1, Engine 6, and Engine 7 were dispatched to 801 W Bow Street for a reported vacant house on fire. Approximately two minutes later, Engine 1 arrived on scene and advised that the front of the vacant house was on fire. Other responding fire units quickly arrived shortly after. Firefighters knocked the fire down promptly, allowing them to gain entry to the structure and check for any possible occupants. A control time was called at 10:23 PM. For approximately the next hour and a half, fire units drowned hot spots and cleaned up their equipment. At 11:43 PM, all fire units were clear from the scene, with Tyler Fire Department’s Fire Marshal remaining on scene for investigation.
Commercial Structure Fire – Robinson Dr 7/13/22
At 10:08 PM on July 13th, 2022, the Noonday Fire Department was dispatched for a commercial fire alarm, showing “general fire”, at the 10200 BLK of Robinson Drive in Tyler. While Noonday units were responding, this was upgraded to a structure fire as a caller on location reported seeing flames from the building. Flint-Gresham, Dixie, Chapel Hill Fire Departments, and UT Health EMS were then dispatched to the structure fire. Noonday FD, arriving first on scene, reported a metal commercial structure with heavy fire from the left side of the building. Firefighters worked on the left side of the building after making entry. Interior crews worked their way through the building and opened a bay door on the front side, where they reported having all fire knocked out from their location. Structure Fire – Old Oak Circle 7/13/22
At 11:28 PM on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022, Flint-Gresham, Bullard, and Noonday Fire Departments were dispatched to a reported back porch fire with a structure in danger at the 2100BLK of Old Oak Circle. Several Smith County Fire ESD2 departments were already on the scene of a commercial structure fire on Robinson Dr and some left to respond to Old Oak Circe. Bullard Engine 2 arrived first on the scene, advising incoming units that the structure was a single-story, single-family home with a working fire. A single occupant was out of the house and firefighters rescued a dog from inside. Command gave secondary arriving units the instructions to establish a water supply, as the fire had worked its way into the home’s garage. STRUCTURE FIRE @15533 CR 1227 JUNE 26TH, 2022
At approximately 11:28 PM on June 26th, 2022, Smith County Fire crews were dispatched to a box alarm structure fire at the 15500BLK of County Road 1227 in Flint, TX in Dixie’s primary district. First Fire Units arrived on the scene at 11:37 and advised that the structure was fully involved and declared a defensive attack on the structure. Due to the fire, a power line to the house fell on a nearby barbed wire fence, energizing it. Oncor was called to secure the line. Smith County Fire crews knocked the fire down quickly, calling control time at 12:07 AM. Crews worked the structure for the next two hours. Once Oncor arrived on the scene and secured the power line, fire crews were able to hit a few more hot spots before cleaning up, packing up, and heading back to their stations. 2:51PM: 2 ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE @2600 S SE LOOP 323 – SMOKE AND FLAMES VISIBLE
At 2:45 PM this afternoon, the City of Tyler Fire Department received a call for an apartment fire at 2601 S Southeast Loop 323, the Fox Run apartments. Engine 7, Engine 8, Engine 2, Ladder 2, Battalion 2, and Fire Marshal 7 were dispatched to the scene where flames were coming from an upper balcony. Engine 8 arrived on scene first and started with a fast attack on the balcony. Other units arrived and assisted. At 3:01 PM a second alarm call was dispatched for Engine 9 but was quickly disregarded because the firefighters on scene had the fire out. Engine 9 was moved to operate out of Station 2 for coverage in the south. Oncor is assisting with getting power back to the units in the building as it was cut off for fire suppression. It is unknown to RCEMedia what caused the fire and if there were any injuries. All units were clear of the scene around 4:30 PM.
12:53 AM: STRUCTURE FIRE – 900BLK OF MOCKINGBIRD LN – FULLY INVOLVED HOUSE
At 12:53 AM on Friday, April 15th, Tyler Fire Department’s Engine 1, Ladder 1, Battalion 1, Engine 5, Engine 7, Fire Marshal 7, and UT Health EMS were dispatched to the 900BLK of Mockingbird Ln for a structure fire. Engine 7 arrived on scene at 12:59 AM and advised there was a fully involved wood-frame house. At 1:02 AM a second alarm was dispatched for Engine 2 and Ladder 2 to assist on the structure fire. Tyler Fire crews worked quickly and strategically to extinguish the fire from all sides of the structure. Due to the large flames, a corner of a neighboring house caught fire along with a nearby vehicle. Different tools were used by firefighters to help locate fire on the roof and in the attic. The single occupant of the home was taken to the hospital by UT Health EMS for non-life-threatening injuries.
