Mill Creek Prescribed Burn and Training 2023

In February 2023, we had the fantastic opportunity to attend the 2023 Mill Creek Prescribed Burn and Training Event, which took place at the beautiful Mill Creek Farm in Wood County, Texas. This invitation gave us an incredible chance to witness firsthand the world of wildland firefighting, incident command, wildland fire mitigation, and forest conservation.

During the three-day event, around 100 firefighters from all over Texas gathered to gain valuable experience and earn and complete certifications. It’s important to note that wildland firefighting is entirely different from the traditional structural firefighting portrayed in movies and TV shows. We were fascinated by this type of firefighting’s complex and challenging nature, and gained an even greater appreciation for the bravery and dedication of those who put their lives on the line to protect our forests and communities.

We’ve been working on a unique project since attending the Mill Creek Prescribed Burn and Training Event, which we’ll announce soon! In the meantime, here is a quick video and some pictures we captured during our two days at Mill Creek Farm, giving you a glimpse into the beauty and intensity of wildland firefighting.

More to come!
